چکیده

Melatonin (MT) controls various physiological functions and enhances plant drought tolerance. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of exogenous MT on morpho-physiological biochemical attributes Ranunculus asiaticus under normal conditions. A completely randomized design was used with two factors, stress concentration (0, 50, 100, 200 μM), assess foliar application R. seedlings. The experiment conducted a total groups: group control group. carried out four times during period. exhibited considerably decreased shoot length by 26.0%, leaf number 31.03%, area 62.2%, fresh dry vegetative weights 34.5% 52.9%, respectively, chlorophyll carotenoid contents 68.29% 51.72%, relative water content 7.1%; early emergence flower stalks observed within 29 days; increased electrolyte leakage 20.5% compared well-watered plants. Conversely, notably growth parameters their no-treatment counterparts. Foliar treatment µM resulted in most significant response Moreover, stressful conditions no treatment, exogenously applied induced appearance buds 21 days 6.4%, proline 32%, peroxidase activity 58% while reducing 14.3%. Regarding tolerance index percentages, higher indicated suitability for use as markers tolerance, supporting effective role enhancing adaptability stress.

Exogenous Application of Salicylic Acid and Chlormequat Chloride Alleviates Negative Effects of Drought Stress in Wheat

Many plant growth regulators (PGRs) are known to alleviate the negative effects of drought stress in plants. However, limited research has been conducted to investigate the potential benefits of exogenous application of PGRs in wheat plants grown under drought stress. In the present study, effects of salicylic acid (SA) and chlormequat chloride (CCC) on drought-stress induced changes in morpho-...

Silicon Application Increases Drought Tolerance of Kentucky Bluegrass by Improving Plant Water Relations and Morphophysiological Functions

Drought stress encumbers the growth of turfgrass principally by disrupting the plant-water relations and physiological functions. The present study was carried out to appraise the role of silicon (Si) in improving the drought tolerance in Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.). Drought stress and four levels (0, 200, 400, and 800 mg L(-1)) of Si (Na2SiO3·9H2O) were imposed after 2 months old pla...

Exogenous Melatonin Alleviates Cold Stress by Promoting Antioxidant Defense and Redox Homeostasis in Camellia sinensis L.

The unprecedented early spring frost that appears as a cold stress adversely affects growth and productivity in tea (Camellia sinensis L.); therefore, it is indispensable to develop approaches to improve the cold tolerance of tea. Here, we investigated the effect of pretreatment with exogenous melatonin on the net photosynthetic rate, the maximum photochemical efficiency of PSII, chlorophyll co...

Exogenous Melatonin Alleviates Alkaline Stress in Malus hupehensis Rehd. by Regulating the Biosynthesis of Polyamines.

Since melatonin was identified in plants decades ago, much attention has been devoted to discovering its role in plant science. There is still a great deal to learn about the functional importance of melatonin, as well as its functional mode. In this paper, we examine the role of melatonin treatment in the response of Malus hupehensis Rehd. to alkaline conditions. Stressed seedlings showed chlo...

Alleviation of Drought Stress Effects by Exogenous Application of Spermidine and Salicylic Acid on Hollyhock (Alcea rosea)

Drought is one of the most important environmental factors limiting the cultivation of ornamental plants in the green space. The effects of spermidine and salicylic acid on hollyhock (Alcea rosea L.)under drought stress were investigated. At first, the plants were sprayed with 3 doses of spermidine and 3 doses of salicylic acid (control, 100, 200 and 400 μM) for three consecut...
